The NanoSwitch is built for installation in exposed, outdoor environments. Its compact, weatherproof housing is designed to withstand a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions, making it an ideal choice for mounting on poles or external walls where access to local electrical power is difficult or non-existent. It effectively eliminates the need for expensive electrical installation by piggybacking off the power provided by your existing outdoor PoE infrastructure.
PoE Passthrough Functionality
The core functionality of the NanoSwitch is its passthrough capability. By feeding the switch via a single 24V passive PoE source, you can simultaneously power up to three additional devices (like outdoor cameras or mesh APs) connected to the passthrough ports. This simplifies the logistics of complex outdoor installations, allowing you to daisy-chain devices and reduce the number of individual cable runs required back to your main networking cabinet.
Unmanaged and Reliable
As an unmanaged switch, the NanoSwitch is designed for simplicity. It does not require complex software configuration or management via a controller. Once it is powered via the PoE-In port, it immediately provides a Gigabit-speed connection to all connected devices. This "plug-and-play" reliability is essential in outdoor settings where you do not want to worry about potential software glitches or management configuration errors.
